YMCA Marathon
Last Thursday, I received a phone call from the Minot Family YMCA. They have a marathon coming up at the end of April (Go check out their site: YMCA Minot). As a gift to the first and second place runners from each category, they give artwork from a local artist. I'm still not sure how they found out that I paint. I've been so busy with online orders, that I haven't advertised to local people what I do. But what a blessing this is!
Hundreds of people come from all over the world for this race (to Minot, ND?). This is a huge event for the City of Minot. The YMCA almost didn't host it this year, but the City of Minot told them they had to. I'm grateful for that!
I have 80 canvases to do for 1st and 2nd place (age categories) as well as 35 1st place relay canvases. I started on Friday, and I have 24 done. I met my goal of having 20 done by yesterday. Praise the Lord!
I'll keep an update of my progress for the next couple of weeks. I have to finish them before April 13th...that's when I leave on my month and a half long journey to the south.
Here's my inspiration for the canvas:

Happy Birthday Leah!
Leah is one of our youth at church and today is her birthday! Happy Birthday Leah! I painted a canvas for her birthday (who would have guessed?). She really likes red, so that's where I started. Then I added some classic colors to it, black and white! I didn't this this painting was complete without a frame.

Teacups & Teapots
I had a client who ordered this canvas as a gift for someone. I was told the person receiving this is a big fan or brown and teal.... and collect teacups and teapots. I posted this sneak peek on my Facebook Fan Page last week.
Take a look at the final canvas. I'm really pleased with the way this one turned out.

Wedding Gift for Brides!
I recently posted on my fan page (Facebook) that I will be giving a canvas to brides who have booked (or will book) weddings with me this year.
This one is for the Future Mr. & Mrs. Brad Marcotte. Their home colors are copper, a deep purple/plum, olive, and gold. I love those colors together... so rich and classy. Brittany, I hope you like it. :)

Wedding Gifts Galore!
Custom stationery is a great idea for a wedding gift. When my husband and I got married, we never had enough thank you notes..... that's a good problem to have! What better way to help a bride and groom than to give them custom thank you notes. A bride always gets excited when she sees her new name on something! These cards were recently ordered for two different couples. Enjoy!

Graduation Gifts! Get Your Orders in Now!
I had a client who requested a baseball canvas as a graduation present for her son. He loves the Chicago Cubs, so I went with that...vintage style.
A little throw-back jersey for you.... And for your information Theriot played for LSU in college. At least he made one good team choice (Can you tell the Cubs isn't my favorite team? It's my husbands...don't worry I'm sure we'll spend a lifetime debating about sports teams! lol!)
The finished canvas:

My Cousin Is Getting Married!
I recently received the coolest looking wedding invitation in the mail..... it was from my cousin! She's getting married! Woo-hoo!!!
She traveled a great distance to come to my wedding in Louisiana.
The colors in her house are neutrals (tans and browns). Her wedding present is just that!
Congratulations to the soon-to-be Mrs. Boyd! I'm so sorry we won't be able to make it to your BIG day!

Thank You For Your Service!
I just finished a painting for someone whose father has served in our military for quite some time. He was commissioned in 1969 and retired in 2009. "He was in the army full time and then when [his daughter] was born, switched to national guard. He was a master sergeant in national guard." He also served in the U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers.
MSG Kees, thank you so much for your service. My husband and I greatly appreciate you and how you've served our country. We also appreciate your family. We know it's a family's sacrifice as well.
Have a blessed day!

An Early Mother's Day Gift
Mother's Day is May 9th, but I have some clients who are on top of things! This painting was ordered for a mother who "is a retired teacher, has 2 grown kids, 2 grand kids & has done mission work. Her favorite color is green (a dark green kinda like emeralds) and her favorite flower is daisies."
I am accepting orders for Mother's Day. I will be taking orders until April 11th- this is the deadline to make sure you get them before Mother's Day. The reason for the month before deadline is due to my traveling schedule in May.
Have a blessed day!

My Etsy Shop
Over the past month, I've sold a couple of items on Etsy. It's really cool to be able to paint for people in New Jersey, California, Virginia, Wisconsin, and the list goes on. God has truly blessed me..... I still can't believe people buy paintings from me. It's just a joy to be able to do what God has called me to do. I love it!
I wanted to post a couple of pics of my #1 seller (I do custom colors in almost every painting, but especially this one!)
Check out my Etsy shop. I'm currently having a sale!

Contest Winner #2!!!
I'm almost officially caught up. I'm just now getting to my other contest winner. I'm so sorry for the delay, but I do appreciate all of you being patient.
Brittany was my other contest winner. She saw a painting in my canvas album, but wanted it to match her bedding. (Pics of things in your home are really helpful when painting for you.... wink!wink!) I really like this bedding by the way. Here's a pic of her bedding:
Here's the final painting:
Brittany (or Brit-nay as I call her!), thank you for being such a wonderful friend and a great support. I appreciate you more than words can express! Have a blessed day!

Bridge Kids
A client asked me to design a logo for their children's ministry a couple of weeks ago. It is for Bridge Church in Covington, LA. They already had a church logo, but wanted the children's logo to coordinate! Go check out their website: Bridge Church.
Here's the current logo for the church:

I Will Dwell in the House of the Lord FOREVER!!!!
I've been working on these canvases for the past several days. Now that I'm finished, it's kind of bittersweet. I'm glad to be finished, but I'm sad to see them go. lol! Addie, I hope you enjoy these in your living room. You were such a joy to work with. Thank you for being patient..... you were a guinea pig for this one. :)
P.S.- At our next house, my husband wants me to paint some of these for our living room! I already have some fun ideas!
Have a blessed day!

Everyone Needs Art for the Bathroom
This painting is for a bathroom.... everyone needs art in their bathroom. I don't think bathrooms are complete without something pretty on the walls.
I just finished this painting for Alicia..... the paint is still drying... here's what she wanted:
"I love Japanese orchids! if you could do an orchid, and beside it write, "Bloom where you are planted" that would be nice. i was thinking somewhere along the lines of 8X16 tall ways. (like red orchids with dark brown stems on a tan backdrop maybe with pretty words)."
Take a look at the final painting. Alicia, I hope this is what you had in mind. :)
Have blessed day!

Gift Ideas: Canvas for a Wedding
I recently had a client order this painting as a wedding gift for a friend. Neutral tones was the overall theme and direction I was given with this one. My client just trusted me on this one and let me do what I wanted... that's kind of scary! lol! Take a look at the final outcome!
