Life Lessons from Women in the Bible
One of my best friends is a youth pastor's wife. She is in charge of an upcoming women's event called "Life Lessons from Women in the Bible." I had the privilege of making a powerpoint slide announcement for her as well as flyers for their church bulletins. However, I couldn't stop there. I always like to give and get free "stuff", so I thought, "free canvases!!!" LOL! So, I painted a couple of canvases for her to give away at her event. Alisha, I hope everything goes well. I wish I could sit in on your session! I know it's going to be AWESOME!
If you're in the area, you should definitely check out this event! It's at Bedico Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, LA. For more information, you can call the church at 985-845-3417. Or email Alisha at alisha.latech@gmail.com.
Have a blessed day!

Kristy,The Suspense Is Over!
Yesterday, I finished The Ferguson's canvas. I'm really pleased with the way this one came out. My husband's favorite part is the "swirlies". :) Here's what Kristy told me she wanted:
"Have you seen the one that Brittany's mom got as a gift for Christmas? It has Bordelon on it and a fleur de lis? I would love something that had our last name at the top "Ferguson" and then at the bottom "Est. 2004" with a fleur de lis on it. With alot of chocolate brown in it and toupes. You are very talented and I'm sure you can do something like that with no trouble."
I'm posting the inspiration and the final product.
Have a blessed day!

Johnson
Yesterday, I finished the Johnson's painting. I had so much fun making my own custom stencil for some gold interest in the background... I'm pretty proud of myself and my stencil. :) Here's what Amanda gave me work off of:
o Size 1.5ish ft x. 3ish ft
o What: Johnson in a pretty script with est. 2009 under it
o Colors: chocolate brown, cream, light greens (kind of olive-y/sage-y)
So, here's the end result: 24X36 painting. I really like the way it turned out. If my living room was done in these colors and my last name was Johnson, you best believe I would have kept it. lol!

An Early Wedding Gift
My friend Jessica is getting married in May! I'm photographing her wedding which I am so excited about. In order to show my appreciation to her and Dean (her fiance), I have a couple of ideas in store for some wedding gifts. I finished this one last week, but I've had so many other paintings to post. I know it might be spoiling the surprise a little but here's an 8X10 painting for her guest bathroom. I found a picture of the shower curtain on her registry.

Sleep in Peace
Because of the blizzard-like weather conditions here in Minot, I was able to get ahead on some orders this weekend... well at least get them finished. This weekend I finished Ms. Kelly's (or Momma K as I call her) 24X36 painting she ordered. Here was her request:
"I want this scripture on the biggest canvas you have to hang over our bed. (landscape position). This is the scripture that I fall asleep praying each night for us :) I was thinking of putting it in either a black or really dark espresso brown frame....
I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8"
I love this scripture by the way. I think it would be a very good one for a nursery too. I'm ready to see it in it's "home". I'll get to see it in person this summer. I'm really excited about it! Woo-hoo!!!!

Stationery
Yesterday, I received an order of stationery from my lab that I designed for a sweet dear "family" member of mine. Ms. Richelle ordered cards for Mammaw's birthday. Here's what she gave me to go by: "MOM LIKES MULBERRY COLOR OR DARK GREEN. SHE LOVES ANYTHING W/GOD'S WORD."
So here's the final result.

Baby Lawson
One of my best friends is having a baby... any second now, literally. Lawson's nursery is LSU themed, so I wanted to paint a canvas for his awesome new room. I wanted it to be a little sophisticated yet still fun! Here's what I came up with.
Lindsey and Brad, congrats on your new baby boy! GEAUX TIGERS!

Raegan's Canvas
My friend Brittany, (or as I call her, Brit-nay) emailed me and asked me paint a canvas for her little girl, Raegan. She sent me an "idea" of what she wanted... something that would "grow" with her little girl. It matches her room, but not so much that she only has to stick to one theme when decorating. I had so much fun painting (not that there's ever a time, I don't have fun!) this one! I enjoy helping decorate other people's nurseries for now. lol!
Here's her idea/concept:
Here's my interpretation: (24X36 canvas)

Showing A Little Love
In honor of Valentine's Day, I'm having a sale! (It's never too early to celebrate)
$5 off all 8X10 canvases
I'm only posting this on my blog, so if you're intersted, you can email, comment, or facebook me. The sale ends on Valentine's Day... that means I'm giving plenty of time to order. Canvases make great Valentine's Day gifts. wink!wink!
Here's a canvas I painted to decorate the entry way of our apartment as well as my thrift store find (silver container-$1). I added Valentine's day ribbon to it to make it more festive. I'm planning on spray painting the whole thing black, but that will have to wait until the spring. No spray painting in 30 degrees or below weather. Oh and the Kit Kats are my husband's favorite.... they aren't much of a temptation for me. I like them, but I don't love them if you know what I mean.
P.S.- "Te Amo" means I love you in Spanish!
Have a blessed day!
And this is what my husband made for me out of legos... he makes me so proud! lol!

Update!!!!!!
After painting the purple canvas, Erin and I decided it needed a little more... so here's the end result. I like this canvas so much better with the pattern in the background.

2 INTENSE Paintings
I have a friend who recently did her bathroom in black, white, and red. She asked me to paint two canvases that would bring in more red.... your wish is my command. lol! I enjoyed painting these two 11X14 canvases, even though they were pretty intense. Every day when my husband would come home, there would be more of the "puzzle" completed. I always like to see his face when the product is complete. I don't think he understands my visions until they are finished... most people don't. lol!
Casey, I hope you like these... I almost kept them for myself. But, then I realized that would be very selfish of me. I want to see pics of them in your bathroom. :)

PURPLE decor!
A friend of mine asked me to do a canvas for someone she knew that recently got married. I love her comment about the newly married bride, "She LOVES and I mean loves the color purple!!". So, here's one purple canvas. I loved doing this one. It's simple, but not too feminine.

CONTEST WINNER!
Erin is the recent winner of my contest. She submitted an entry about her sister. Here's her entry:
"Hey Robyn.
My oldest sister has a new home that is very nice. She is a very good decorator but has this fire place with a mantle and a huge blank wall above it. They have lived in the house for a couple of years and still it is blank. It is in desperate need of something fabulous, and that fabulous could only come from you!!"
I can relate to this entry. It took me 3 months to finish the canvas above our TV (we don't have a mantle... but one day we will). So, Erin's sister is receiving a 24X30 canvas for her mantle. Take a look at her living room as well as the finished painting. I hope you like it!
To all the others who entered, thank for entering. I'm giving 10% off your painting if you order by next Friday. Thank you for your support. :)

Arrival: Mollie Brooke
While I was traveling for Christmas vacation, I got an exciting phone call from my mom saying my sister had her baby! She was born in the best month (December... hahaha!). I'm so excited that she's finally arrived. I painted this birth announcement canvas for her room. Mollie, I hope you like it. Love, Lee Lee!

White Coat!!!!!
I have a friend who recently received her white coat in PA school. I can't be more excited for her. She has worked her "pa-toot" off, and my many prayers for her have been answered. I wasn't able to go to the ceremony (considering she was in LA and I'm in ND), but she made a trip to see me in Ruston during Christmas. I miss her like crazy!
For a congratulations gift, I designed stationery just for her. Alisha, I'm so proud of you!!!! You make that white coat look good. lol!

Just Wanted to Say Thanks
There is a family in Minot who takes care of the Lee family. I really don't know what I would do without them. They recently bought us a black iron skillet. Everyone needs an iron skillet, but the Lee household didn't have one until Monday. Now, I can cook cornbread til it warms up in North Dakota.... that's a while from now! In order to tell them thanks, I painted a canvas for their kitchen.
Have a blessed day!
I had to try out the iron skillet!

Late Christmas Present!
I have a friend/neighbor/sister in Christ who gave Stephen and I an awesome Christmas present. It was a scrapbook to document our first Minot winter together. lol!... and there's lots to document. A lot happens in 8 months- the length of winters here!
I couldn't decide what to get her or what to make her until the other day. Her grandfather recently passed away unexpectedly. I know that she will be writing a lot of cards/ thank you letters to people, so I thought I could design her some cards. Take a look at the final product. I really like how these turned out!

Secret Mission #2!
Let me just say, I love being in on secret missions! I love surprises and I love for other people to be surprised (with gifts, that is!). I had the honor of being able to be in on another secret mission for my friend Lindsey. Her husband (along with her family) is a part of a wonderful family called Fishers Of Men. "The Fishers of Men National Tournament Trail is a nonprofit, nondenominational ministry whose mission is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to fishermen and their families through competitive and professionally run fishing tournaments." If your interested in participating in this exciting ministry, you can click the link above.
Lindsey, again thank you for allowing me to paint, paint, and paint some more! I love doing it!

"Hey There Partner!"
I recently received an order from a fellow photographer to paint a canvas for her son's "cowboy" room. But, she didn't just want one, she wanted two of the same canvas. I've never had anyone do that, but I was honored to do it. Michelle, thanks for allowing me to paint for you. I enjoyed every second of it. I hope your son enjoys his canvas.
